what is the way to file transwer and share in LAN and how LAN is established plz give point to point detail?
I buy two lan card and a cross wire now what to do after installation of lan card.
make sure your wire is a crossover wire (they look the same as ethernet cables, except that one pair of wire is switched inside)
- Connect the cable between the computers
On each computer:
- Go to Control Panel > Network Connections
- Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and choose properties.
- Scroll down the list, click once on TCP/IP and click on the properties button
On computer A:
- IP Address: 192.168.1.100
- subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- gateway: 192.168.1.100
On Computer B:
- IP Address: 192.168.1.101
-subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- gateway: 192.168.1.101
Save all that, exit disable any firewall (once done with the transfer, remember to put this back on) and restart if prompted to do so.
Computers should be connected now and you should be able to see any folder on the other computer if they are marked as shared.
